Divine Yoni

Yoni – Root Healing

Your yoni, your vagina is a divine part of your beautiful body no matter what. Like a delicate flower, only a gentle and tender approach reveals her divine nature.

Most of us inherited a shame based history of relating to our vaginas. We were forbidden to talk about her. Women who did were shamed. We were not taught to give thanks for her in our prayers. There was no respect for her. She was ignored, under attack, violated, controlled and medicalised. Women and men from all cultures around the globe are shedding our shame based beliefs in order to make peace with this incredible jewel within us. As we rise from the murky waters of our stories, of our history – she rises with us. We envision a new era where women and men hold our sexuality and our sexual organs in holy esteem. I invite you to speak her name with respect for her divinity, with respect for your divinity.

I was initiated into this sacred work by my yoni and her trauma story, and she continues to be my greatest teacher. My personal healing journey and struggle to rise from the mud of my own story forms the basis of my work. This was anchored by studies in ancestral healing, women’s earth medicine, movement medicine, womb awakening teacher trainings and water medicine teachings.

Yoni Steam – Water Medicine

Divine Yoni steaming is an ancient practice used to cleanse, nourish and heal the female organs.

The Ashanti women of Africa use steam from hot coals and herbs to keep the womb healthy and to rejuvenate after giving birth. The Ancient Egyptians practiced the sacred art of yoni steaming to flush toxins out of the yoni and womb. And Xhosa women have been encouraging yoni steaming within their tribe for many years. Divine Yoni steaming is a return of the feminine wisdom healing practices of the women all around the world.

How Yoni Steaming works

When dried herbs are placed in the hot water, the volatile oils that contain medicinal properties are released. A yoni steam works by applying gentle heat, as moisture that carries these volatile oils, to the exterior tissues of the vagina ( the tissue referred to as the vulva). The warmth and moisture increases circulation to the labia, causing it to swell and expose the inner labial mucus membranes.

These tissues are very porous and absorbent, and the bloodstream picks up the volatile oils then carries them into the inner reproductive system, including the uterus. Thus the herbal steam increases circulation, thins the mucus and revitalises the entire system, allowing it to shed unnecessary membranes and build-up. The result is a healthier, more pleasant cycle and a more connected woman.

There are limits to what the medical profession can do for us. Often trauma healing is outside of the scope of their work. Many women have recurring growths, discomfort and pain that cannot be diagnosed nor healed with conventional medicine because the stories have to do with our personal histories, our beliefs about ourselves and our sexual rights, our ability to feel, etc. The sexual trauma of the generations before us are passed on and lives within us. The shame and grief….. ours and the generations before us can block the flow of energy within our vaginas.

“I experienced my first Yoni steam with Rah and felt a profound and deep healing occurring through this beautiful ritual. Rah held the space with compassion and integrity and I felt safe to feel and express what came up through the process. I have recommended her to many of my patients and believe the work she is doing is powerful and necessary for our humanity”
